If you’re looking for a jerky that will spice up your life, Golden Island’s Kung Pao beef jerky is exactly what you want. Initially, biting into it gives you a hint of sweetness; however, it is quickly followed up with spice. With hints of brown sugar and a robust blend of Chilies and Sichuan pepper, the results are a delicious and potent Kung Pao taste. The heat was a bit overwhelming for me at times, but the intensity was true to the Asian-inspired flavor. We score Golden Island’s Kung Pao beef jerky an A on the flavor factor.

Because of the way Golden Island kettle cooks their beef in their process, the jerky is tender and soft, but looks unlike most jerky product’s I’ve seen. The meat was moist, but not overly oily. It had very little gristle, but was a bit chewy. Overall, the texture was good, but a little too spongy. We score Golden Island’s Kung Pao beef jerky a B on the texture factor.
