FLAVOR FACTOR: B
The jerky tastes fantastic; however, the teriyaki didn’t come through in the way I hoped. It seemed almost southwestern style with possible hints of Poblano pepper, but it isn’t spicy. The teriyaki flavor is more of an after taste to the rich smokiness cooked into the meat; however, the combination of the two is pleasant and prevents the jerky from tasting too salty. Old Trapper Teriyaki beef jerky scores a B on the flavor factor.
TEXTURE FACTOR: A
The jerky looks delicious and lean. The pieces are tender and moist, but not oily. The pieces were not overly chewy. Some were stringy as you tore or chewed, but they were not gristly . Overall, the quality seems great. I would recommend this brand if you do not like tough, chewy jerky. Old Trapper Teriyaki Beef Jerky scores an A on the Texture Factor.
HEALTH FACTOR: C
Neither the package nor the official website says the product is gluten free, MSG free, or nitrates free. The sodium content is also a bit higher than some of the other brands we’ve reviewed. We give Old Trapper Teriyaki Beef Jerky a scores of C on the health factor.

VALUE FACTOR: B
Old Trapper Smoked Products is the family owned business, headquartered in Oregon, that makes Old Trapper beef jerky. They claim their beef jerky is the best in the world, and they have been expanding their business since 1969. Their teriyaki beef jerky is definitely delicious, but I don’t think this particular flavor was bold enough to be the best in my book. The 10oz bag is easily available in stores and online for $15 or less. Combining flavor, cost, and availability, we think Old Trapper beef jerky is a good value and recommend trying it for yourself.
